An exhaust system or through exhaust system usually consists of a catalytic converter, a particulate filter (GPF, OPF, DPF) and several silencers. All of the above mentioned components severely reduce the flow of exhaust gases from the engine to the tailpipe. The exhaust system is designed to reduce the amount of curves and filters in this path as much as possible.
